Wow. 2011 is here and it's February already! It feels as if my life is on fast forward. Where does the time go? If I write it down, I can easily see that much of time is spent shuttling the boys around in my fancy mommy mini-van. But, seriously, I wish I could stop the clock sometimes. It's been pretty tough to find the time to update this blog, get involved in a good book or even catch up on my favorite TV dramas. I used to love watching Grey's Anatomy and Desperate Housewives and would take all necessary steps to ensure I could record them if I didn't have time to watch them. It's been months since I've seen either of these shows and I do miss them. Watching shows like Spongebob or Diego doesn't quite fulfill my need for good TV time. I will say I really dislike watching superhero shows and don't think that will ever change.
I've been working on my training plan for the upcoming Princess Half-Marathon and am amazed that I have completed two 10 miles runs recently without having to call 911! I know I won't be the fastest runner there that day, but I will finish and get the shiny medal to prove it!!! It's exciting to have a goal to work on, other than the goal of finishing all the laundry in the house, which by the way, is a goal I never achieve. How can one family wear so many clothes in one week? And, why is it that when I am about to get caught up--someone wets the bed? Then I'm bombarded with sheets, comforters and smelly clothes which must take priority. Oh, the joy!
Joseph started karate or taekowndo to be exact. He wants to be like one of the Power Rangers because it's important to know how to fight the enemy. After the first class, he wanted to know when he would get to use the weapons. Just an eager beaver, I suppose. He likes it and looks pretty official in his uniform. I sure hope he doesn't karate chop Jake in half one day and say he's just practicing...
We keep him busy with swim lessons too and he is doing great. His instructor said that he does great when he can focus (imagine that) and that he has lots of energy to burn off. Surprising, right?
Now as for Boy #2, he is quite the comedian. He has an awesome vocabulary and knows exactly when to insert himself into the conversation. Recently, Brian was asking the family "who likes the mini-van?" and Jake bursts out with "Nobody likes this car!" Talk about funny! That's my boy. I think he may pursue an acting career one day because he loves to pretend he is Capt Jack Sparrow or Obi Wan Kenobi. He immerses himself in the character and starts to play with his guys like he is in some kind of battle or something.
The potty-training is going well for the most part too. I think we'll be 100% by the time he turns 3 years old. He tells me that Pull-Ups are for babies and he is a toddler. He wants to wear "unwear". I signed him up for preschool in the fall so he is really becoming a big boy.
My sweet husband is doing just fine. He's a bit disappointed in his Bears for not beating up on the Packers, but he's hanging in there. I can't wait for the Bears/Saints showdown this next football season! The wine business is good, which is a good thing. I'm happy to hear that people are still drinking despite the bad economy.
I hear the weather is frightful everywhere else, but it's pretty delightful here these days. I'm dreading the hot and humid days that I know will soon be upon us. Until then, we'll enjoy our time outdoors and low electric bills!
It's about time to get the bedtime routine in motion and I'm hoping I don't crash along with them. I hope to be better at updating this, but no promises!
Peace out-
