Whew! It has been one hot summer!!! School will be starting very soon and we are all looking forward to getting back to the routine. Since we have returned from our trip to the Big Easy, we've spent our days at the pool or visiting with friends. I haven't felt too well this week, so we had lots of inside time watching movies. Of course, we managed to sneak in a few outings to Target and to the library.
I ran another 5k last weekend with JC. The race started bright and early at 7:30 a.m. but it was already so hot and humid at that time of the day! My overall time is improving, although I ended up walking more than I anticipated due to really bad heartburn (or possibly a very uncomfortable sports bra). Anyway, I'm enjoying it and am working towards my goal of doing a half-marathon with my best buds Lori and JC next year.
The boys are doing great and I can hardly believe how fast they are growing up. Brace yourself for this next sentence: Joseph's curiousity has peaked in regards to wanting to know why I do not have a certain body part that the boys have. I explained that girls were made differently. Unfortunately, it did not end there, he thought for a moment and had several more questions, including how girls went to the bathroom. Seriously, I was caught a little off-guard. :)
Jake is learning to mimic some of what Joseph does, so I am in trouble now! He waves bye-bye, he claps hands when we sing, and he even tries to use his hand to cool off his food, just like Mommy does before I give it to him!
Joseph will be starting in a Montessori program this year. We are looking forward to having him in this type of learning environment and hoping that it will be a great move for him for many aspects of his development. We will miss the many wonderful teachers and friends that we made at his first preschool. They made him feel so loved and gave him a great foundation to build upon. It was an extremely tough decision to have him switch programs, but Brian and I feel it is the right choice for him at this time.
Time to get ready for bed! It's been a long day! We will be starting Brian's birthday celebration tomorrow afternoon in preparation for his official birthday on Monday!
