Football, Field Trips, & Pirates - Oh My!

Now that October has come and gone, I'm ready to start planning for the holidays. Here are the highlights:
*My Dad came into town for the annual Saints / Bucs game in Raymond James Stadium. We were joined by the Zollinger guys this year and a couple of their friends. It was a blast! We kicked off the day at Jackson's Cafe in dowtown Tampa Bay for a pre-game brunch and cocktails. Unfortunately, we were unable to have the cocktails because it was only 10:30am and Tampa has some crazy law about serving alcohol before 11 a.m.! To us New Orleans natives (4 in total at the table), this was simply unheard of!!! Needless to say, we still had a fabulous meal sans alcohol! The game was great, especially because we took home a win! It's thrilling to see your team win when you're in the stadium of the opposing team. I have never seen so many "WHO DATS" in Tampa before and I have to say that I liked it!!! Can't wait for next year!

*Field Trip to the Petting Farm. Joseph's school arranged a field trip to a local petting farm and the parents had to accompany their child. For those of you that know me really well, you know that this is not my thing AT all. Brian planned to be off that day so he could take Joseph, but I decided to go along and make it a family adventure for all of us. I can honestly say that I enjoyed it and the boys loved it. They both had a pony ride and got up close and personal with a few other animals too! I can't say that I'm dying to return but I'm glad that I survived the experience and it was a positive one!

*Halloween! "Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!" Capt Jack Sparrow (Joseph) and Will Turner (Jake) got really into their characters for the Halloween festivities. We went to the Not So Scary Party at the Magic Kingdom and it was fantastic! My little Jack got a chance to see the "real" Jack on his parade float and even shook hands with Capt. Barbossa. What fun! Woody and Jesse from Toy Story also had a dance party which was pretty cool to witness. The guys were so excited by the fun and the candy (the best part, right) that they succumbed to sleep during the fireworks show. Ironic, isn't it? Yesterday, on Halloween, we kept up with our annual tradition of the Trunk or Treat event at the nearby church. We saw some old friends, got more candy and enjoyed the evening. The kids were literally done afterwards and turned down the opportunity to go door-to-door trick or treating the old-fashioned way. All in all, I'd say it was a good day!

*Bags, totes & more: I participated in a Halloween event for my Thirty-One business on Saturday along with one of my team members, Tammy. It was great exposure for us and our products! Seriously, I think we gave out candy to about 1500 people. It was fun and I'm hoping that we get some leads out of it, especially with the holidays quickly approaching.

*Superstar @ School: Joseph is doing terrific in school! I'm told he is a social butterfly. I can't imagine where he gets that character trait from??? He is so excited to be reading and perfecting his handwriting. He tries really hard to complete his work plan everyday but he will inform you that he prefers playtime over anything! His teacher said that his favorite area of learning is about different cultures, animals, biology, and geography. We're starting to work on a project about the different continents and he selected Australia as the place he wanted to focus on. Pretty cool.

*Bye, bye PACI! Yes, I said it: No more pacifier for Jake! I didn't think it was going to be possible for several more years, but success! I got so tired of losing them and trying to always have a backup for him. Too much stress being the PACI POLICE. I'm happy to say that I did it! And, he is pretty much potty-trained too! Yay Jake!

Time to go now. Laundry is calling. Jake wants to go outside to swing. My crock-pot dinner smells yummy and I wish I had time for a nap. Oh well.

Hugs to all of you out there-
Em
