We had a wonderful weekend celebrating both Joseph's birthday and the baptism of Jacob. Actually, Joseph's teachers decorated his classroom on Friday and were prepared to host a little party for him there! I brought in cupcakes and they had a nice day.
The weekend kicked off with a pool party (Kung Fu panda theme) at our clubhouse. Joseph and his buddies had a terrific time and we were very fortunate to have a beautiful sunny day. He racked up in the gift department and was so thrilled that it was finally his birthday! During the previous months as we celebrated everyone else's birthday, I think he may have thought that his birthday would never arrive! So, he is happy to be 3!
I can hardly believe how quickly the last three years have flown by! It's been a rollercoaster of a ride and I look forward to what the future holds for our little guy. He is so full of love, energy and personality! He is "No Nap Joe" and although I am exhausted, I love him to pieces!
On Sunday, we headed to our church for mass and the baptism ceremony for Jacob. It was another hot and sunny day here. It was a very nice ceremony and we are happy to have him welcomed into the church. Jacob was perfect throughout the christening and he looked like an angel. We asked Lauren (my sister) and John (our brother-in-law) to be Jake's godparents. With the unexpected havoc from Hurricanes Gustav and Hanna, we weren't sure if they would be able to make it. Fortunately, Lauren was able to make it on Friday and we know that John was with us in spirit! Papa Joe filled in as our proxy for the day. Jake decided he wanted to nap for most of the afternoon when we returned.
We came back home and celebrated Joseph's "official" birthday with a cake from Cold Stone Creamery - his favorite ice cream place! He was loving every minute of it being his birthday. There were more presents to open too! He is certainly one lucky little guy.
With the help of all the grandparents, we purchased a nice swingset/playset for him for our backyard. In fact, Papa and Brian have been putting it together since yesterday! It's funny how they say that it should only take 3-6 hours, right? I don't think so! Many comments that I read on this set mentioned that it took much longer than the box stated!
Joseph returned to school this morning and he was a little sad when I was leaving. Hopefully, he'll get right back into having fun and into the routine.
By the way, last Thursday was Nanny's birthday! Wanted to send out a Happy Birthday to her too!
