A Picnic, Safety Lessons and Big Milestones

For Mother's Day, we decided to go on a picnic and enjoy the really, HOT weather! I'm being a bit sarcastic about the weather. It is pretty much 90 degrees or higher every day and it's not even mid-summer yet! I also received some very nice cards and gifts!

This week, the focus at Joseph's school has been safety. Several firemen came to his school yesterday and let the children roam around the truck. They taught him some very valuable information. He came home and told me that we needed to pick a meeting place in case of a fire. Also, he advised me that if fire is on your clothes, you must "drop and roll". I think they got their point across! I was impressed. Today, the paramedics came to his school with the ambulance to show the children. He told us all about how they have the oxygen on the truck in case people need it.

Jake is walking!!! He is not completely on the go, but he can take about five to ten steps all alone. After that, he decides that he can move faster if he crawls, and so he drops to the floor and races away. Other big news: He is sleeping through the night!!! Yahoo! I usually put him in his crib between 7 and 7:30 p.m. and he'll sleep until 5 or 6 a.m. He's still not much of a napper, unless you're holding him, but maybe that will come in time.

Well, dinner is almost ready and then we'll start our bedtime rountine.
