We started off the trip with a visit to the Quarter, pronounced "Quarta" by the locals. It was a rainy day so we checked out the Children's Museum for a few hours, which the kids loved. It would not be possible to leave without a stop at Cafe du Monde, so we indulged our sweet tooth and enjoyed some beignets and milk! It has been so HOT that we have been swimming everyday to cool off. Of course, the pool water is almost like bath water at times! It's been great visiting with all of the family and reconnecting with my old friends. During the trip, Joseph decided that he wanted to stay here until his birthday in September so that he could have his party here. Since that was not going to be possible, we planned a surprise party for him, complete with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle theme. It came together really well, especially the cake. He has recently discovered these guys in green and thinks that they are the coolest! "Cowabunga dude!" I decided that Jake had three birthday parties, so I had better start early with Joseph too! It was a really fun day!
Our trip is coming to a close in a few days and we'll certainly miss the southern hospitality and the snowballs! We still have some more fun plans in the works before we depart. But, the real question is: how many more snowballs can I eat before we leave?
